Terms of Service
Effective date: 21 October 2026
1. Scope, parties, and agreement
1.1 These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you”), and Yassine Rajallah, a sole proprietor under German law, Berlin, Germany, operating as WireGaugeCalc (“WireGaugeCalc,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the website wiregaugecalc.com, its calculators, and the guides, FAQ, and statistics pages published on it (together, the “Service”).
1.2 These Terms are General Terms and Conditions (Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen, “AGB”) within the meaning of §§ 305 et seq. of the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch, “BGB”).
1.3 The Service is available to everyone, free of charge. Most users are professionals such as electricians, contractors, and engineers (“business users”, meaning people acting in the exercise of their trade, business, or independent profession, § 14 BGB), but consumers (§ 13 BGB) may use it too. Where a provision applies to business users only, it says so. If mandatory law grants you rights as a consumer, those rights remain unaffected by these Terms.
1.4 By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
1.5 Where you act on behalf of a company or other entity, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it to these Terms. In that case, “you” means that entity.
1.6 The general terms and conditions of a business user do not apply, even if we do not expressly object to them.
2. Amendments to these Terms
2.1 We may amend these Terms for valid reasons, in particular changes in law or case law, changes in the technical environment, changes by third-party providers on which the Service depends, or the addition of new features. Amendments do not change the main performance obligations.
2.2 We will publish the amended Terms on this page with a new effective date at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Where you have contacted us and we hold your email address, we will also notify you by email. If you do not object in text form (for example by email to contact@wiregaugecalc.com) before that date and you keep using the Service afterwards, the amended Terms are deemed accepted; we will point out this right to object and the consequence of silence when we announce the change. If you object, you can stop using the Service, and the previous Terms continue to apply to your past use.
2.3 Amendments that are exclusively beneficial to you or that are required by law may take effect immediately.
3. The Service and what we owe
3.1 WireGaugeCalc provides online calculators for electrical work, including wire size, ampacity, voltage drop, conduit fill, and box fill, together with supporting guides, FAQ, and statistics pages. The features available at any time are those shown on wiregaugecalc.com. The calculations run on your own device, in your browser.
3.2 The Service is a free courtesy. We provide it with reasonable care, but we do not owe any particular result and there is no entitlement to its availability, to particular features, or to updates.
3.3 We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Outages caused by third-party providers (such as hosting, network, or font providers), the internet, or your own systems are not our responsibility.
3.4 We may change, extend, reduce, or discontinue features or the whole Service at any time, in particular to keep up with technical developments, changes by third-party providers, new code editions, or legal requirements.
3.5 Examples, sample values, statements about typical results, and statistics on the Service are for illustration. They are not a description of agreed quality and not a promise that a result will fit your job.
4. Calculation aid, not professional or code advice
4.1 WireGaugeCalc is a calculation aid, not a substitute for the National Electrical Code (NEC), your local code and amendments, the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction, or a licensed electrician or engineer. It is not an engineering, design, inspection, or legal service, and using it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
4.2 Every result is an estimate. Results depend on the values you enter, on the assumptions built into each calculator (for example standard tables, temperature ratings, conductor material, and the stated code edition), and on tables and formulas that may be simplified, incomplete, or out of date. Local amendments, other code editions, manufacturer instructions, listings, and the particular conditions of your installation may require a different answer.
4.3 Do not rely on the Service for safety-critical decisions. Electrical work can cause fire, electric shock, injury, and death. Before you wire, install, size, protect, inspect, or sign off on anything, you must verify every result against the current code and the manufacturer’s data, and have the work planned and checked by a qualified, licensed person where the law or the risk requires it.
4.4 You are solely responsible for the inputs you enter, for checking each result, for the decisions you make on the basis of it, for the way work is carried out, and for compliance with the law, permits, and inspections that apply to your project.
4.5 “NEC” and “National Electrical Code” are trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). They are used here only to identify the code that the calculators refer to. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by NFPA.
4.6 Third-party data. Figures such as table values, conductor data, and statistics come from published sources or are estimates. We do not guarantee that they are accurate, complete, or current.
5. Eligibility and user representations
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- 5.1 you have the legal capacity to accept these Terms and are at least 18 years old;
- 5.2 you will not access the Service through automated or non-human means except via permitted interfaces;
- 5.3 you will not use the Service for any unlawful or unauthorised purpose; and
- 5.4 your use of the Service will not violate any applicable law or regulation.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- 6.1 systematically retrieve content to build a competing collection, compilation, or database, or scrape the Service or load it excessively;
- 6.2 circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features or usage limits of the Service, or try to gain unauthorised access to it or to our infrastructure;
- 6.3 interfere with, disrupt, or place an undue burden on the Service or its infrastructure;
- 6.4 present results of the Service as certified, approved, or inspected work, or as engineering or code-compliance advice;
- 6.5 decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any software comprising the Service, except as permitted by law (§§ 69d, 69e UrhG); or
- 6.6 use the Service in any other way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.
If you breach this Section 6, we may restrict or block your access under Section 12.
7. Intellectual property
7.1 The Service and its contents, features, and functionality (including the website design, software, texts, and the selection and arrangement of materials) are owned by the Company or its licensors and are protected by German and international intellectual property laws. The NEC itself is the work of NFPA and is not licensed to you through the Service.
7.2 You may use the Service for your own business or personal purposes. You receive a simple (non-exclusive), non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to use it for that purpose, and you may use the results of your own calculations for your own work. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or create derivative works of the Service or its content, except where mandatory law permits it.
7.3 The values you enter into a calculator stay with you. We claim no ownership of them, and they are not transmitted to us (see Section 8).
8. Privacy, cookies, and analytics
The values you enter into a calculator are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to or stored by us. Our handling of other personal data, including the first-party cookies used for our own analytics and the cookie banner, is described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Fees
9.1 The Service is currently provided free of charge, without registration.
9.2 If we introduce paid features in the future, we will show the price and the applicable terms before you buy, and nothing is charged without your express agreement. Existing free features stay free unless we announce a change in line with Section 2. Statutory rights, including the right of withdrawal for consumers, apply to paid contracts as required by law (see Section 15).
10. Disclaimer of warranties
10.1 The Service, its calculators, and all results and content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This includes, as far as legally possible, any warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, compliance with any code edition or local requirement, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10.2 Calculator results are estimates only (Section 4). We do not warrant that a result is correct, that it complies with the NEC or any local requirement, or that it is suitable for your installation, and we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10.3 Section 11 applies to our liability and takes precedence over this Section 10 where mandatory law requires.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 Unlimited liability. We are liable without limitation (a) for intent and gross negligence of us, our legal representatives, or executive staff; (b) for injury to life, body, or health; (c) for defects we have fraudulently concealed; (d) under a guarantee expressly designated by us in writing as a “guarantee”; and (e) where liability is mandatory by law, in particular under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
11.2 Free Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, we are liable for it, in all other cases, only for intent and gross negligence (including that of our simple vicarious agents), and in the cases of Section 11.1. Our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
11.3 Paid features (if introduced). If we introduce paid features, then for slight negligence, and for gross negligence of simple vicarious agents, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (Kardinalpflicht): an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case, our liability is limited to the damage that is typical for this type of contract and was foreseeable when the contract was concluded, which the parties agree does not exceed, per contract year, the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) EUR 100. In all other cases of slight negligence, our liability is excluded.
11.4 Safety-critical use. The Service is a calculation aid (Section 4). To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage that results from your reliance on a result without verifying it against the current code, the manufacturer’s data, and a qualified person, or from wrong inputs. If damage is also caused by your failure to do so, or by your failure to follow our reasonable instructions, § 254 BGB applies.
11.5 Business users. For business users, claims against us for damages become time-barred one year after the start of the statutory limitation period. This does not apply in the cases of Section 11.1.
11.6 The limitations in this Section also apply to the personal liability of our employees, representatives, vicarious agents, and subcontractors. They do not change the burden of proof.
12. Term, termination, and suspension
12.1 You can stop using the Service at any time. There is no account to close.
12.2 We may suspend, restrict, or end your access to the Service, or the Service as a whole, at any time where there are specific indications that you are breaching these Terms, in particular Section 6, where it is necessary to protect the Service, other users, or third parties, or where we discontinue the Service. If we end the whole Service, we will give reasonable notice on the website where this is possible.
12.3 Your right to terminate and ours for good cause (aus wichtigem Grund) remain unaffected.
12.4 When access ends, your right to use the Service ends. Sections 4, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 16 survive.
13. Indemnification (business users only)
13.1 If you are a business user, you will indemnify us against all claims by third parties, including authorities, customers, and rights holders, that arise from (a) your breach of these Terms or of applicable law; (b) the work you carry out or the advice you give using the Service, including a reliance on results contrary to Section 4; or (c) content or materials you submit to us. The indemnity covers reasonable costs of legal defence, including lawyers’ fees at statutory rates, and fines or penalties to the extent legally permissible. It does not apply if you are not responsible for the underlying breach.
13.2 We will inform you without delay of any claim, not acknowledge it without your consent, and give you the opportunity to take part in the defence. This Section 13 does not apply to consumers.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
14.1 Governing law. German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not remove the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the country where you habitually reside.
14.2 Place of jurisdiction. If you are a merchant (Kaufmann), a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, or if you have no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms is Berlin, Germany. We may also bring proceedings at your general place of jurisdiction. For consumers, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply, and the exclusive place of jurisdiction in this clause does not restrict any mandatory consumer rights.
14.3 Informal resolution. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at contact@wiregaugecalc.com; we will respond within 14 days. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).
15. Consumer rights notice
15.1 If you are a consumer, you retain statutory rights that cannot be waived by these Terms.
15.2 Right of withdrawal: where a paid contract applies, consumers may withdraw within 14 days of conclusion of the contract without giving a reason, as set out in the information we provide before purchase. As long as the Service is free, no such contract exists.
16. Final provisions
16.1 Severability: if a provision of these Terms is or becomes invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid. The statutory provisions apply in place of the invalid provision (§ 306(2) BGB).
16.2 Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Service. Verbal side agreements do not exist.
16.3 No waiver: if we do not enforce a provision on one occasion, this does not waive our right to enforce it later.
16.4 Force majeure: neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, pandemics, government measures, strikes, failures of telecommunications networks, and outages or policy changes of third-party providers such as hosting and network providers.
16.5 Assignment: we may transfer these Terms to a successor who continues the Service, and we will notify you in advance. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent in text form.
16.6 Notices: notices to the Company must be given in text form (for example by email) to contact@wiregaugecalc.com.
16.7 Language: these Terms are provided in English. If a translation exists, the English version prevails.
