Which temperature column do I start from for ambient correction?
Start from the conductor's own insulation rating, often the 90 degree column, to apply the correction factor. Then limit the corrected result to the termination temperature, usually 75 degrees, per NEC 110.14(C).
What happens to ampacity in a hot attic or rooftop?
Higher ambient temperature multiplies the base ampacity by a factor below 1.0, so the usable current drops. Always check the corrected value against the current NEC tables and your local authority having jurisdiction.
Do I apply ambient correction before or after conductor bundling?
