How The PV Source Circuit Current Is Built Up

NEC 690.8 has you take the module short-circuit current, multiply by 125 percent for continuous duty, and then by another 125 percent for the maximum-current rule.

That combined factor of 156 percent sets the conductor ampacity floor, so DC solar wire is usually larger than the bare module current suggests.
